Vercie Bertrand Boone,77, died on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at her residence after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be on Monday, January 30, 2012, from 8 AM to 10 PM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 2 PM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be at Prairie Rhonde Baptist Church in Prairie Rhonde. Pastor Terry La Fleur and Pastor Joshua Johnson will officiate.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Adrian Boone, who took loving care of her during her declining health. Also left behind to mourn this selfless, loving woman, are her three daughters, Sue Gotreaux and husband Larry of Holden, LA, Sherry Sattler and husband Bill of Youngsville, LA, and Debbie Miller and husband Kent of Eunice, LA; seven grandchildren, Amy Gotreaux, Keela Bumm, Stacey Junot, Dustin Gotreaux, Michael Miller, Jacob Miller, and Jada Sattler; seven great grandchildren, Adam Bumm, Cora Bumm, Tyler Fleming, Kaitlyn Bumm, Sydney Junot, Grant Junot, and Khloe Gotreaux all of Denham Springs, LA; five brothers, JR Bertrand of Humble, TX, Roy Bertrand of Grapeland, TX, Gene Bertrand of Denham Springs, LA, James C. Bertrand of Ville Platte, LA, and Bobby Bertrand of Eunice, LA; one sister, Beulah Davidson of Eunice, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Enas Bertrand and Ophelia Deville Bertrand; brothers, Winston Bertrand and infant brother; sister, Verna Russell; her beloved grandson, Cody Miller.
She loved spending time with her family, sewing and flower arranging, was a licensed florist and her fondest memory and experience was her and Adrian's 50th wedding anniversary.
The family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt appreciation for all family and many friends who visited and remembered her in their prayers. The family would like to thank Kim Veillon for her special gifts, Kristin Istre, her caregiver, and Heart of Hospice for their compassion and care during her last months. She leaves a hole in our hearts and will be so missed.
