Vernell Hunt, Sr. was born to this union on May 16, 1919 in Brownsville, TN. His parents, Mary and Armstead Hunt (preceded him in death). He was the 6th child of 10 children. He received his formal education in Jackson, Tennessee, where he later met and married Ruth Evelyn Anderson in 1940. He enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He relocated to St. Louis, MO in that same year, but began his family in 1947. He accepted Christ into his life as a young man and held the position of Deacon at New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church until his illness advanced. Over the years he had several occupations, by which he maintained and provided for his family. He most enjoyed and had a passion for driving and traveling. He worked many years for the Carson Family (Ladue, MO) as their personal chauffeur and attendant until he retired in 1985. He was a loyal husband and friend to Ruth Evelyn Hunt for 43 years until her death in 1983. To their union 5 children were born, Brenda, Vernell Jr., Alphonso (Renell), Darcia, and Donna. He was a hard working family man, who displayed an abundance of love and kindness to many. He was energetic and strong and continued to work (part-time) to remain active throughout his earlier retired years. Vernell was a caring and overall happy person with infectious laughter. As fate would have it, he would not be alone. Love re-entered his life on June 29, 2002, when he married Frozene McDaniels. They were well into their retired years, but still maintained a zest for life and love. Sadly, Vernell was diagnosed in April of 2005 with Alzheimer's disease. Which he yielded to after nearly 7 years of battling his affliction. Vernell leaves to mourn his life: a devoted wife, Frozene Hunt; one sibling, Jettie B. Hill; (4) children: Brenda Roby, Vernell Hunt, Jr. (Terri), Alphonso-Renell (preceded him in death), Darcia Hunt, and Donna Lenior; (9) stepchildren, Paulette, Zandra, Cynthia, (Bonita preceded him in death), Pamela, Trina, Monica, Allen and Keith; (11) grandchildren, Scheronda, Tywane, Stephanie, Jermaine (Donta), Lisa, Ernest, Chastity, Shanta, Vernon Jr., and LaDonna; (24) great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grand-daughter. He was blessed with 92 glorious years of life, but on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, GOD dispatched an Angel to bring him home, to be at peace.
