Vernon Baldridge, Jr., 82, of Greenwood, Arkansas, formerly of Hot Springs, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Greenwood. Born August 13, 1929 in Little Rock to Vernon Sr. and Bonnie Hendrix Baldridge, he was a U.S. Army veteran. He graduated from Little Rock Central High School, former owner of Baldridge Grocery and Carol Marie Shoppe and former manager of Hot Springs Lumber Company. He was known by friends and family as honest and a hard worker. He loved animals and always had a soft spot for strays. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Arthur “Buddy” Baldridge.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Baldridge; daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Dan Leathers; son and daughter-in-law, Vernon “Biff” III and Laurie Baldridge; sister, Estelle Kuespert; grandchildren, Joshua, Alyssa, and Katy Baldridge.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Gross Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jess Gideon officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Alexander.
