Mrs. Veronica L. "Boops" (Dailey) Scott, 70, of 138 East Fifth Street, Waynesboro, PA, passed away at 5:35 P.M. Friday, November 11, 2011 in Manor Care Health Services, Chambersburg, PA, following a courageous four year battle with cancer. Born July 7, 1941 in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Marshall A. and Miriam L. (Miller) Dailey. She spent most of her life in the Waynesboro area. Mrs. Scott was a graduate of Waynesboro Senior High School with the Class of 1959. She was employed as a night custodian for Waynesboro Area School District for 26 years. She retired in 2007. Mrs. Scott attended Ringgold Church of Christ, Ringgold, MD. She enjoyed plants, flowers, animals, all people and the gift of conversation. Mrs. Scott is survived by her daughter, Susan K. Patterson and her husband, Daniel of Waynesboro; her sister, Miriam Stoner of Spokane, WA; two nieces; two nephews; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Judith L. Delarnoux; and her companion of 38 years, Mr. William R. "Dick" Diehl. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, with Pastor David Deatrich officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg, PA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro PA 17268 or the charity of one's choice.
