Vickie King

Vickie L. King, 65, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away, Saturday morning, January 5, 2013 at her home.

Vickie was born March 10, 1947, in Milan, Missouri to Melvin and Nadine (Cleeton) Marlay. On November 29, 1969, in Dallas, Texas, she married Doug King, who survives. Also surviving are: two sons, Steve King and wife Leann of Northfield, Minnesota, and Greg King and wife Jennifer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren, Tyler and Tawni King, Tyler Tice, and Preslie and Piper King; a sister, Jane and husband Bob Walgren of Brookfield, Missouri; a brother, Charles Marlay of Kirksville, Missouri; two sister-in-laws, Susie Gardner of Milan, and Jamie Marlay of Kansas City; nieces, Anitra Crisp and husband Tony of Kirksville, Missouri; Mary Allan and husband Richard of Mendon, Missouri; nephews, Charles "Chaz" Walgren of Kirksville, Nick Gardner and wife, Ashley of Milan, and Brent Gardner and wife Natalie of Milan; great nieces, Kaitlyn Crisp and Rylee Kehr; and great nephews, Drake and Gauge Allan, and Nash Gardner.
She was preceded in death by; her parents; a brother, David Marlay; In-laws, Leo and Ruth King; a brother-in-law, Charles "Butch" Gardner; and a great niece, Kaylee Crisp.

Vickie has lived in Kansas City since the early 1970's and was a member of St. Charles Parrish in Gladstone, Missouri. She volunteered for many years for Northland Festivals. Vickie and Doug enjoyed playing Mr. And Mrs. Claus for several years for Gladstone and Operation Breakthrough. She was very active in school and church activities when her sons were younger. She had many hobbies including; quilting, reading, cooking and baking, and gardening. Most of all she loved being with her family and was a wonderful Grandmother.

Funeral services for Vickie King, 65, of Kansas City, Missouri were held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Milan, Missouri. Deacon John Weaver officiated. Jan Scobee and Chaz Walgren provided music. Pallbearers were Nick Gardner, Brent Gardner, Robert Rucker, Chaz Walgren, Don Nickell, and Lars Langhus. A visitation was held 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with a 7:30 PM Rosary, Monday evening, at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial followed the service at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Milan.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic Church prayer garden.
