GONZALES - Vicky Gonzales passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the age of 66. She was born in San Francisco, CA and grew up in Santa Fe, NM. Her passion was her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Margaret Gonzales; her brother, Eugene; beloved aunt, Christine Quintana; uncles, Alexis Gonzales and Alfonso Gonzales; and cousins, Richard Gonzales, Carmen Galvin and Betty Pilkington. She is survived by sister, Genevieve Romero and brother-in-law Robert; nephew, Jason and wife Roxane and their daughter Jericha; niece, Jennifer and husband Brian and son Keanu Medina and daughter Grace; sister, Louise Jauréguiberry and brother-in-law Pat and nephew Gabriel; brother, Christopher Gonzales and sister-in-law Rochelle, nephew Christian and niece Tessa; cousin Andrea O'Hagan and husband Bob and niece Lauren; cousin Matthew and wife Joy and niece Melissa and cousin Michele Gonzales of Dallas, TX and cousin and Godfather Kenneth Pilkington wife Marilyn and daughter Karen. She was especially close to great-aunt, Angelina Delgado Martinez. Vicky was an avid fan of films, music, literature, theater, democracy and constitutional rights. She worked as an advocate for the American Disabilities Act and served on many taskforces for the disabled in Albuquerque, NM. She attended Our Lady of Guadalupe School and received a scholarship to Loretto Academy, where she obtained her diploma in 1963. After working in banking, she received a B.A. in Business from UNM, and worked for 20 years at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM. At Sandia, she was a dedicated employee and supported a variety of organizations, including Satellite, Geo-Energy, Environmental Restoration, and Systems Analysis—and cultivated many friendships and colleagues. She was a recent participant in a multifaceted medical study with the UNM CCM Project that is gathering data for families in New Mexico afflicted with the disease of Cerebral Cavernous Malformations or CCM's. Donations may be made to the UNM CCM Project, Department of Neurology, in lieu of flowers. Cremation has taken place. Honorary pallbearers are: Pat and Gabriel Jaureguiberry, Robert and Jason Romero, Brian Summers and Keanu Medina, Enos Valdez, Mike Killian, James Arena, Leonard LaMagna, Jeana Brosseau, Barbara Charrette, Dolores Esparza, Liz Lujan, Joan Murphy, Kay Nordeen, Martha Suarez, and Bobbye and Phil Krehbiel. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW in Albuquerque, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of her life at the parish hall at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at a later date at Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe. Vicky will be missed greatly by all her family and friends.
