Vincent R. Carss, age 86, of East Moline, died Saturday, December 24, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline with military honors conducted by Colona American Legion Post #1233. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice or The Honor Flight.
Vincent was born February 18, 1925 in Moline, the son of Vincent and Mona Barker Carss. He married Frances E. Martens on February 23, 1946 in Moline. She preceded him in death on December 4, 1997.
Vincent was employed for 32 years as a spot welder and service parts man for International Harvester, retiring in 1980. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #1304 and a member of the Colona American Legion Post # 1233. Vincent was an U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II, and recently was one of the participants on the W.W. II Honors Flight. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Moline. Vincent loved bowling and was very proud of his 300 score with the International Harvester Bowling League. He also won the Dispatch bowling tournament. Vincent enjoyed camping, NASCAR racing, and winter vacations in Destin, FL.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Ron; sisters, Dolores, Darlene, Shirley and half brother, Charles.
