Viola M. Brown, 90, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte. She was born April 23, 1920 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Harrison Holman and Verna (Nichols) Holman. Viola spent most of her life in the LaPorte area. Viola worked as a food service/manager for LaPorte High School for twenty-years, retiring in 1982. She enjoyed her pets and had a special fondness for animals. She was also an avid reader and passed her love of reading on to her family. Viola enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. On November 8, 1937, in Valparaiso, IN, she married Robert S. Hutton who preceded her in death September 25, 1975. She is survived by her two sons - Norman (Donna) Hutton of Carmel, IN, Lester T. Hutton of Westfield, MA; daughter - Sandra (Rick) McEnterfer of La Porte, IN; brother - Harrison Ray Holman of Rolling Prairie, IN; sister - Lucille Zeritis of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren - Jody Schlemmer of Fort Wayne, IN, Margie Nelson of Springfield, MA, Leslie Armstrong of VA, John Hutton of AZ, Julie Kousen of Jersey City, NJ, Paul McEnterfer of FL; three great-grandchildren, Cody Schlemmer of Fort Wayne, IN, Eric Armstrong of VA; and Allison Armstrong of VA. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Edison Holman, and daughter-in-law, Connie. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. A Graveside Service will be held at Door Village Cemetery, Tuesday September 14, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bill Moxey, officiating. Interment will follow at the Door Village Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the LaPorte Co. Animal Shelter 2855 W.
