Violet Kapuscinski, age 83, of Taylor, passed away Wednesday after a brief stay at Hospice Community Care in Dunmore. She was preceded in death on February 7, 2009, by her beloved husband of 53 years, Francis Kapuscinski. Born in Old Forge on February 14, 1928, daughter of the late Andrew and Rose Kurek Samsock, Violet was educated at the former St. Michael's School. Briefly working in the garment industry, she then devoted her life to raising her family. Having a strong faith in God, she was a longtime active member of St. Michael's R.C. Church in Old Forge. Her fondest memories were those of her monthly trips to Atlantic City with her husband. She was a loyal and loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother whose family was her pride and joy. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children; Valerie Brunetti and husband Richard with whom she resided with in Taylor, Peggy O'Hara and husband Dennis of Olyphant, Barbara Stelmack and husband Daniel of Old Forge and Michael Kapuscinski and wife Jeanette of Old Forge; sisters, Helen Nelson, Stella Talarowski and Eleanor Kordoff, all of Philadelphia; and eleven grandchildren. Her family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Eugene D. Harasym and staff and the nurses of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for all their compassion. Also preceding in death was a brother, Edward Samsock; and an infant grandson, Jack Kapuscinski. Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 9:15AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Lawrence O'Toole R.C. Church, 620 South Main Street in Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. Kenneth Seegar. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 5-8:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Violet's name to Hospice of the Sacred Heart (600 Baltimore Drive #7, Wilkes Barre).
