Violet (née Berkholtz) was born in Lester Prairie, Minnesota and moved to Portland as a child. She had vivid memories of life during the Depression, of working at Meier & Frank, and of her wartime travels with her husband Lloyd, who died in 1994. She loved their fishing trips, her garden, and all animals; and was happiest when she was outdoors. Violet's only child Terry (b. 1947) died in 2008. At her request there will be no services. She will be buried with her husband at Willamette National Cemetery.
