Virgil C. Brunges, 88, a resident of Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center, Chippewa Falls, left this world to be with the love of his life, Vallee on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the home.

He was born November 23, 1922 in Boyne City, Mich., the son of Dayton and Stella (Bartley) Brunges.

On January 18, 1947 he married Vallee Christie in Sault St. Marie, Mich.

Virgil played football for the 1941 Sault Blue Devils and then went on to serve in the U.S. Army.

He began his sales career at Montgomery Ward which furthered his career as a Buick/Chevy car salesman. He was an all-around handyman who was a very sociable person. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Virgil is survived by: two sons, Ronald (Arlinda) Brunges of Bailey, Colo. and Linnsey (Candy) Brunges of Chippewa Falls; one daughter, Kristie (Joe) Denning of Chippewa Falls; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Vallee; one son, Mark Brunges; his parents; one brother; and three sisters.

A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Robert Hoekstra, chaplain at the Chippewa Manor will be officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Calvary Cemetery, Chippewa Falls at a later date.

Friends may call one hour before the time of services Sunday, February 20 at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls.
