VIRGINIA CAROL MILLER July 18, 1922 ~ January 29, 2012 Virginia Miller, 89, of Vancouver, WA, passed away on January 29, 2012. She was born in Waverly, WA on July 18, 1922 to Willis and Hattie Worthy. Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Wallace H. Miller; son, Richard D. (Lynn); grandchildren, Andrew (Jaime), Mark (Sarah) and Darcy (Tim) Pfeifer; six great-grandchildren, all of Vancouver; and her brother, Gerald Worthy of Pullman, WA. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas; parents; sister, Bonnie Irwin; and brother, Gale Worthy. Virginia graduated from Kinman Business University in Spokane, WA. She then met Wally and after a three-week courtship in Moscow, ID, they were married. After WW II, Wally and Virginia settled down in Felida. Virginia supported her husband in all his endeavors and was never afraid of hard work. She loved her time working with the Vancouver School District, especially the 22 years spent as a registrar at Columbia River High School where she made life-long friends. In her retirement, Virginia enjoyed reading, antiquing, working around the house with Wally and doting after her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a tremendous baker who would always have something ready for Wally, the grandchildren and anyone working around the property. Virginia valued family above all else and was a wonderful support for everyone she was close to. She will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on Feb. 3, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation, 1121 SW Salmon Street, Suite 100, Portland, Oregon 97205-2021.
