Mrs. Virginia Gardner Davis, 85, died Saturday (May 11, 2013) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following an extended illness. She was a native of Waycross and had lived most of her life in Ware County. She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church where she was most known as a prayer warrior. She was also a homemaker most of her life. Mrs. Davis was a daughter to the late William Cline Gardner and Myra Mae Smith Gardner. She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. She is survived by six children, Elaine Davis Lankford (husband Darrell) of Waycross, Charles Davis, Jr. (wife Sue) of Waycross, Lewis William Davis of Waycross, Joseph "Joey" Davis (wife Bridget) of Blackshear, Alesia Smith of Waycross, and Timmy L. Davis, Sr. (wife Terri) of Blackshear; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (May 15, 2013) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com. Music Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
