Virginia M. Jurkiewicz of Hamden, loving wife of the late John J. Jurkiewicz passed away Dec. 20, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born in New Haven, April 16, 1918 a daughter of the late John and Louise Menasian, and had resided in Hamden since 1983. She graduated from Hillhouse H.S. and was employed as a secretary at Yale University prior to her retirement. Virginia was an active member of the Hamden Plains United Methodist Church, and Church Women United. She enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She is survived by her sons, David (Beverly) Jurkiewicz of Hamden, John (Michele) Jurkiewicz of Meriden, 2 grandsons, Michael (Danielle) Jurkiewicz of Guilford, Gregg (Jennifer) Jurkiewicz of Belmont, MA, and a great grandson, Aaron David Jurkiewicz of Belmont, MA. Mrs. Jurkiewicz is also survived by a sister Besse Counihan of Wallingford and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Beatrice Carolla. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday January 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Hamden Plains United Methodist Church. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN.
