Mrs. Virginia M. Leigh, 86, wife of Charles Edward Leigh (deceased), passed away on November 16th, 2011.
Virginia spent most of her life in music, having completed her love in children's music at the Church Kindergarten of Red Springs, North Carolina for 17 years. In 1968, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia with husband Charles and son Ed, so Charles could start a new job opportunity. In 1974, Charles accepted a position at Blue Ridge Electric Co-Op and Charles and Virginia moved to Pickens, S.C. Coming to Pickens, Virginia enjoyed working with a variety of interests: belonging to The Pickens Music Club, the Evening Women's Club and of course Grace United Methodist Church as children and youth choir director for several years. She especially enjoyed the Adult Fellowship Class at Grace and being a member of the Grace Hand Bell Choir. Her love for Pickens, both the town and its people, never waivered.
She is survived by son, Lloyd Edward Leigh, daughter Jane Leigh Diggett ( Whit), grand-daughter Leigh McPherson Steinberg (Paul) and great-grandchildren Arden and Evan Steinberg.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Grace United Methodist Church on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice of Greenville or Greenville Glen Assisted Living.
