Virginia Mae Lester January 7, 1927 - October 14, 2011 Virginia Mae Lester, 84, went to be with God on October 14, 2011. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Dr. Glenn Hilburn officiating. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 18, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Mrs. Lester was born January 7, 1927, in Wynona, Oklahoma, to Benjamin Daniel and Bessie Mae Lewis. She graduated from Wynona High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Baylor University. She received her Montessori Training while employed by the Waco ISD at J.H. Hines Elementary School. She was a teacher in the WISD school system for over 20 years - touching many lives. Virginia will always be remembered for her unselfish love shown to her family, friends, Baylor family, former students, neighbors and countless strangers throughout her life. Her generous love, faith in God and desire to bring out the best in others will manifest itself in more ways than she will ever know. Giving unconditionally has no boundaries. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dr. E. Russell Lester; and her parents, Benjamin D. Lewis and Bessie Mae Merrill. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Jean Hurd; and two brothers, Ray G. Lewis and Charles James Lewis. Virginia is survived by her son, Byron Kyle Lester and his wife, Leann, of Waco, and their children Kyle, Brandi, Randi, Chance and Clay; as well as her daughter, Melinda Lester Brown of Newport Beach, CA, and her children, Luke, Perry and Claire. She had five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia is also survived by three sisters and four brothers, Betty and Keith Holt, Charlene and Harvey Kneisel, Agnes and Robert Walker, Edward Lewis, B. D. Lewis, Paul and Gaye Lewis and Doug and Fran Lewis. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers, as well as friends, who gave Virginia Lester such a special quality of life in her last 3 ½ years, Evelyn Wiley, Natasha Bryant, and Yolanda Willis. We very much appreciate this quality time. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Waco or to a charity of your choice.
