Virginia May Lyerly May 17, 1919 ~ August 4, 2011 Virginia May Lyerly, 92, passed away on August 4, 2011 due to heart failure at St. Joseph's Manor Nursing Home in Bryan. A Rosary and visitation will be held at Strickland Funeral Home on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat with interment to follow at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Virginia was born May 17, 1919, to Ambrose and Virginia Leitz. She grew up near Telephone Road in Houston, was a graduate of Milby High School, and worked at H.S. Kress, Foley's, and all Saints Catholic School. She is preceded in death by her husband, George M. Lyerly and grandson, Captain Sean E. Lyerly who was killed in Iraq. Virginia is survived by James M. Lyerly and wife Pamela, Norma Jean and husband George B. Stokes, and George E. Lyerly and wife Monica, as well as five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
