Virginia Nell Robb, the daughter of Iva Emma (Payne) and Amos Miles Dillin, was born June 7, 1920 at Red Cloud, Nebraska. She departed this life on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 4 months and 26 days. A lifelong resident of Webster County, Virginia's family moved south of Guide Rock when she was a young girl. She received her formal education attending the Guide Rock schools and graduated with a certificate in normal training with the class of 1938. She taught rural school for a year south of Guide Rock. On June 8, 1939 she was united in marriage with Loy Howard Robb at St. Paul, Nebraska. This union was blessed with three children, Gene Allen, Richard Howard and Twila Kay. Virginia and Loy lived for a brief time at Omaha during World War II. They returned to Guide Rock where they built their home in 1948. Virginia possessed a number of interests and activities throughout her life including cooking, baking, caring for her flowers, attending horse races, traveling with Loy, and she was an avid reader. She was a dedicated football fan and faithful to following the Huskers. Her personality was pervaded by her patience, kindness and thoughtfulness to others. For many years, Virginia and her two sisters, cared for their aging mother. Her greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for family and she looked forward to the time they spent together. She was a member of the Guide Rock United Methodist Church, the Royal Neighbors and Retired Teachers. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Loy on March 14, 2007; her son, Richard in January of 1984; grandchildren Laura and Kory Robb; and a brother, Keith Dillin. Left to treasure her memory are her son, Gene Robb and wife Ruth of Guide Rock, Nebraska; daughter, Twila Irvin of Hastings, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Linda Robb of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Karla Kay Robb and children Brendyn and Faith; Darin Eugene Robb; Rick Robb and wife Diane and children Morgan, Hunter and Taylor; David Robb and wife Cristi and children Dylan, Ryan, Christian and Damon; Michael Robb and wife Katie and children Hannah and Noah; and Corinne Goracke and husband Brian and children Drew and Elle. Also surviving are her sisters, Kathleen Fee of Lincoln, Nebraska and Margaret Swanson and husband Richard of Kearney, Nebraska; a sisters-in-law, Ellen Robb of York, Nebraska and Rita Schuch of Sunnyvale, California; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, 11:00 a.m., November 7, 2011 at the Guide Rock United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joel Rathbun officiating. Interment was at the Guide Rock Cemetery.
