Vivian Lancaster Hitchcock age 83, of McDonough passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 surrounded by her family.
Viv was born on February 11, 1928 in Atlanta, the youngest of three sisters. She married the love of her life, the late Charles R. Hitchcock, on her birthday in 1949. Together they lived in McDonough for more than forty years, where they raised their two sons and were involved in the community, including running the 4-H Saddle Club on their farm.
Viv had a sweet tooth matched only by the sweetness of her nature; she had a smile and a kind word for everybody. She and Charlie also enjoyed spending time at the family home on St. Simons Island. In later years they moved to Peachtree City, where they immediately charmed the neighborhood.
Vivian is survived by son and daughter-in-law Gary and Janie Hitchcock, son Shane Hitchcock, grandchildren Janie Young and Cody Hitchcock, great-grandson Tennyson, extended family and friends, and her dogs Sammie and Eddy.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Friends may visit the family Saturday from 11:00 AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home of McDonough, 770-914-8833, haistenfunerals.com.
