W. J. "Dub" Plummer, 83, of Lonoke, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012. He was born July 11, 1928, in Austin, Arkansas. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Smyrna Methodist Church which he helped build. He dedicated thirty-five years to the Lonoke County Road Department, retiring as a Lonoke County Road Supervisor. In honor of his dedication to the County of Lonoke, a road was named after him. He was an avid horse lover, enjoyed trail rides, sleigh rides, and participating in the Lonoke County mule pulls. He enjoyed coon hunting and had a love for the great outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Margaret Plummer, two sisters, one brother, and one son. He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Martha Sue Plummer; two sons; three daughters; eight grandsons; three granddaughters; four great-grandsons; two sisters; and a host of nieces and nephews.
We want to express our heartfelt appreciation to all the loving caregivers who came into Daddy's and our lives.
Family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews.
