W. Robert Sprouse, 79, of Inman, SC died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born June 5, 1931 in Gaffney, SC, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Sprouse. He was first married to the late Mary Ruth Sprouse. He was a retired insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Company for thirty years and for the next twenty years he was an independent insurance agent. He was an active member of Ella Crocker Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was the treasurer for many years, a Sunday School teacher for forty years, and a deacon. He also was a member of the Lion’s Club, and a member and former president for one year of the Life Underwriters Organization for thirty three years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Basil M. Sprouse and her children, Thomas Daniel Mincarelli, Benjamin Anthony Mincarelli, Angelia Denise Mincarelli, and Melissa Ann Mincarelli; six grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren. He is predeceased by two daughters, Gloria G. Corbin and Dixie Bly; two brothers, James Sprouse and Donald Sprouse; and a sister, Lillian Sprouse.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Wesley Dixon and the Rev. Ronald Rhodes. Visitation will follow the service.
Pallbearers will be Dudley Strange, Greg Dixon, Ken Carithers, Mark Mahaffey, Wade Dobbins, and George Hunt.
Honorary Escort will be the National Group of Insurance Underwriters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ella Crocker Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, 3548 Clifton-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
