Walter J. Williams, Jr., died at Overlook Hospital of Summit, NJ on July 10, 2012. He was born on May 13, 1943, in Lauringburg, NC to the late Walter and Rachel Williams. Walter received his primary and secondary education in the Lauringburg, North Carolina school system, graduating from high school in 1963. Walter attended Tennessee A&M majoring in engineering and Kean College (University) majoring in accounting. He also received several licenses, certifications and many awards throughout his lifetime. Walter served as both a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader at the George Washington Elementary School in Hillside, New Jersey for Pack/Troop 196. He was a Freemason for many years at Eureka Lodge No. 72 in Newark, New Jersey, where he held the office of treasurer and earned his 33°. Walter was a prior member of St. John Unified Freewill Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Curtis D. Gilmore, Sr. He sang on the Men's Choir, served on the Trustee Board and was a member of the Scholarship Fund and various other committees. Walter retired from Basil, Inc., in 1995. Walter was married to and is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shellie J. Williams, Esq.; their two children, Bernita Frances Williams and Jerry Lamont Williams (Pamela); two grandchildren, Trevor L. Williams and Atiyah C. Williams, brother, Albert Williams; six sisters, Radie (Luther) McBride, Lillie Nicholson, Geraldine Smith, Rachel Lucas, Waldorf, Rev. Alice Carter & Doris Steel and a host of other relatives and friends. This Online Memorial has been created to commemorate the life of Walter J.
