Ken was a person who was enthusiastic, talking to others about their choice of topic or those of his...and I must state intelligently. When I was ready to change the subject...I'd say "what about those Republicans": I could just sit back and listen and then seek "clarification": occasionally.
Lastly, Ken loved their church, to travel and camp out and "just be on the go". He was always ready to talk about their great children and their grand children.

I met Mr Bernhardt once, but I worked with his son Ken at Texas Instruments. He fostered the growth of a great family and through that family his legacy will always be remembered. My sympathies to everyone and you will be in our prayers. Best regards to all.

We were blessed to have Ken and Barbara as friends and neighbors and enjoyed our time together. We will carry our memories of them forever, smile when we think of them and miss them; we are the better for having our paths cross. Ken's "secret" for the perfect waffles is still used when I have the occasion to make them.

Bobbi, Tracey, Kenny and Annie, You are in thoughts and prayers as we remember Ken and offer our heart-felt condolences during this time.

Uncle Ken was a kind uncle to me. Always a laugh and a smile and your home was always welcoming. Hearing all of you say "yes sir" was always so different than our family, but the structure in your family always made me a little envious. I wonder if meeting his expectations helped to make you success today?
Even in the last 5 years, he always was a great story teller and would keep my attention to the very end on one of his stories. Jon admired his golf clubs that he made and his opinions on "everything"!

He also drove like a bat-outta-hell, in, or out of the snow : ) He scared the ba-geebers out of me driving fast in a blizzard from Orland Park towards downtown . . . like it was a sunny California day for him : ) He would sit on the kitchen floor, with the rest of us late at night, giving the best foot rubs of all time : ) His laughter could shake the walls and bring Aunt Barbara to giggles, even when she didn't want to encourage him one more second. I remember him as I young child as a hard worker. He might not have always been around, but he surely provided lots of opportunities of fun for his children. I know a lot of these memories are from a child's perspective . . . and, I've loved hanging onto all those fine memories all along.
I wish peace for his family & unity remembering all the blessings from their dad.

Bobbi, Tracey, Kenny and Annie, your partners, children and grand-children... You are very much in our minds as we remember your Dad. He was always a "larger than life" figure to me with his laugh and persona. I haven't seen him for a long time and wish that were different. I'm sorry we can't be there in Albuquerque and Santa Fe to share stories, smiles and grief with you all. Hold onto each other during this time because the loss of a loved one brings many dimensions to the family experience. We love you,

One of the last projects he completed for our church before he moved was to craft a lovely wood sign board to post hymn numbers. It is in the front of the sanctuary for all to see.

We were graced by having Mr. and Mrs. Bernhardt for our next door neighbors for years. We admired their determination, graciousness, intelligence, gentleness and hard work.

We have such great sympathy for your loss as we know, as with the loss of Mrs. Bernhardt, how great a loss it is. We are grateful your family is close and hope that will give some comfort.
