Age 88, resident of Albuquerque for the past few years and previously of Versailles, KY, died on February 3, 2012. A loving husband, father and father-in-law, Mr. Bernhardt is survived by four children, eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Bernhardt. A service will be held at French ~ Wyoming Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012. Interment will be at The National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 3:00 p.m.. Mr. Bernhardt was a Purple Heart Recipient for his military service during World War II with the 271st Infantry Regiment, 69th Division; a business veteran of the Petroleum Refining Industry, and dedicated member of the Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to any organization benefiting US Armed Forces Veterans, Wounded Warriors, or the USO.
