Walter M. Rowe, 76, of Portland, Maine, died Sunday Jan. 1, 2012, at Russell Park Rehabilitation Center in Lewiston, Maine. He had been in failing health for the past four years and critically ill for the past month. Born July 24, 1935, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Paul L. and Mary E. (Harbaugh) Rowe. He spent most of his life in Maine and attended Portland Public Schools. Mr. Rowe had been a house painter and handyman. He served nine years in the Maine Army National Guard. Walter is survived by two brothers, Eugene Rowe of Portland, Maine, Jay Rowe of York, Maine; one sister, Barbara Bryant of Falmouth, Maine, and seven neices and nephews. Private burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
