Andersen, Walter P. 77, on February 15, 2009 of Manchester, NJ formerly of Allendale, NJ.
Beloved husband of Nina P. Andersen (nee Critchley) for 50 years. Loving father of Peter and wife Joanne of Ridgefield, CT, Steven and wife Debbie of Ramsey, NJ, Gregory and wife Monica of Wyckoff, NJ and Norman and wife Donna of Charlotte, NC. Adored grandfather of Emily, Christopher, Mark, Jessica, Mackenzie, Cameron, Andrew, Thomas, Mackenzie and Mallory. Dear brother of Harold and Phyllis. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Walter was past Commander of the American Legion Post 204 of Allendale. He was a member of the VFW 10181 of Allendale. He was a member of the Holiday Observers of Allendale and a member of the Board of Adjustment of Allendale. Walter coached recreational baseball and soccer in Allendale. He was a member of the Church of the Epiphany in Allendale and also a member of the Highlands Presbyterian Church in Allendale. Walter was a US Navy Veteran from 1951-1955 serving on the USS Glennon, DD 840. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors and a member of the New Jersey Association of Realtors for 35 years. Walter worked for NJ Bell for 16 years prior to going into partnership with a School Photography Company Maude-Randolph School Pictures in Allendale. Walter lived in the Leisure Ridge Adult Community in Manchester, NJ where he was a member of the Recreation Committee. He loved Stone Harbor, the beach and deep sea fishing. Walter was also an avid photographer. Walter loved Allendale and Crestwood Lake. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and brought humor to everyday life.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey. A funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday February 19, 2009 at 10 AM at the Church of the Epiphany in Allendale, NJ. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Ramsey.
