Walter Russell, Sr. was born to the union of Issac and Julia Russell of Little Rock, Arkansas. He entered this earthly place on January 18, 1920. He later moved to St. Louis, MO. On June 6, he was united in Marriage to Mary Anna Wrice. To this union 11 children were born. Virginia Russell, Portia Merriweather, Walter Russell, Jr., Elois Shannon, Donzell Russell, Harold Russell, Gail Owens, Audrey Williams, Antoinette Foote, Darryl Russell, and Kevin Russell. Walter later retired from Ralston Purina Company after 40 years of services. He was a meek and humble man and a devoted husband and loving father. He loved to talk about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His parents, wife, four sisters, two brothers, one granddaughter, one great-grandson, two sons-in-law, five sisters-in-law, and three brothers-in-law, all preceded him in death. Walter accepted Christ as his way of life. He joined with Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member until his death. On Friday, December 23, 2011, God whispered to Walter and without hesitation, he responded and joined his Heavenly Father in glory; left to cherish his unforgettable strength, oh so loving memories, and to carry on his legacy are: his 11 children, one brother, 2 sons-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, 28 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends at Christian Care Center. Walter will truly be missed by us all and St. Sophia Center where he passed away. In my Father's house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
