Walter S. Norton Jr., 78, Of Grafton and formerly of Westborough passed away on Sunday, July 17, in St Vincent Hospital surrounded by his family and friends after a brief illness . Born in Worcester, MA to the late Phyllis E. (Tappan) and Walter S. Norton, he was raised in Westborough MA. Walter shared the last 21 years with his dear companion, Dianne Deuitch. Walter graduated from Westborough High School in 1951 and was an Army Korean War veteran. A committed, active member of AA for 29 years, he was also an avid sportsmen and longtime member of the North Grafton Fish, Game and Bird Club. Walter enjoyed traveling and investigating his family genealogy. He was employed as an inspector and office employee at Bay State Abrasives Company in Westborough for over 30 years. He is survived by his former wife Sheila (Lescord) Norton and their children: W. Stephen Norton and his wife Cindy of Grafton, Peter A. Norton and his wife Linda of Northborough, William K Norton and his wife Giselle of Oxford, Wendy L Shaughnessy and her husband Robert of Hudson and Thomas E Norton and his wife Kari of Hawaii, a brother Phillip A. Norton of Middleboro, a sister Sandra Cook of Westborough. In addition Walter held a special place in the hearts of Dianne's children and grand children. He was a step father and grandfather to his extended family. He leaves David Deuitch, Tempe AZ, Robin Rigazio and husband John, Corinna, ME, Douglas Deuitch and wife Barbara, Santa Maria, CA, Thomas Deuitch and wife Alexa, Leesburg, VA, Timothy Deuitch and wife Marge Porter, St Paul MN, Kimberly Gibson and husband Alfred, Uxbridge, MA, Susan Byrd and husband Julius, Corvallis, OR. Between his two families, Walter leaves 19 Grandchildren, 3 Great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral & Calling Hours Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 - 7 PM at THE RONEY FUNERALHOME 152 Worcester St. in North Grafton.
