Wanda Elizabeth Barnett, born August 30, 1913, to William Oscar and Annie Cunningham Barnett was the second of five children. At the time of her birth, her father, Oscar was the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Alvoid, Texas, and she was born in the Baptist parsonage. She joined the Lord on the 9 th of July, 2012 while living at the Family's Choice in Dallas, Texas. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, an older brother, Leeman Broadus Barnett, a younger brother, James Riley Barnett, a sister, Virginia Savannah Barnett Taylor, one nephew, David Searcy of Florida and a niece, Annelle Mathews of Dallas. She is succeeded by a younger brother William Oliver and his wife, Verna Barnett of Dallas, and a sister in law, Caroline Barnett of Austin. Wanda E Barnett received her undergraduate degree from North Texas State University and a Masters Degree in Education from Southern Methodist University. She was the first female principal in Dallas and opened four schools: Anson Jones Elementary School in Dallas, Harry Stone Elementary School in Dallas, William Lipscumb Elementary School in Dallas, and Walnut Hill Elementary School in Dallas. Wanda was very active with the Campfire Girls, a member of the DAR, The Echo Book Club, a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Cliff where her father W. O. Barnett ministered from. 1921 to 1953 and was Pastor Emeritus for ten years. She was a member of the Phebians Sunday School class at Calvary, and enjoyed spending time researching genealogy and the rich history of the Barnett family. She is survived by eight nieces and nephews, twelve great nieces and nephews and three great great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are, Dr. S. Robert Haria, James Riley Barnett Jr., Dr. Robert M. Barnett, W. O. Barnett, Jr., Frank W. Barnett, Allen E. Ball, and David W Grimes. Honorary pallbearers are: W. O. Barnett, and John Scott
