Warren A. Blittersdorf, 88, of White Township, Belvidere, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at St. Clares Hospital, Dover, NJ. Born on January 13, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Henry and Jennie Liebtag Blittersdorf. Mr. Blittersdorf was a design engineer at Picatinny Arsenal, Rockaway Township, NJ before retiring in 1978. After retiring, he became an engineering consultant before fully retiring in 1987. Mr. Blittersdorf served in the Army during WWII. He was a 1950 graduate of Penn State University where he received his B.S. in mechanical engineering. Mr. Blittersdorf was a life member of the American Legion, Post 131, Belvidere, NJ, a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association and a member of the Wharton Elks Club. Mr. Blittersdorf was predeceased by his wife, Leona Holmes Blittersdorf, who died on March 1, 1966; a brother, Charles Blittersdorf Jr.; a sister, Marcia Gill. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Panella and her husband Ron Panella and Pamela Blittersdorf and her husband Michael Lonetto; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society. This Online Memorial has been created to commemorate the life of Warren Blittersdorf.
