TOWNSEND, Wayne G. - of Clio, age 82, died Saturday January 10, 2009. Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 520 Butler St., Clio, with Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 11-3 and 5-9 PM, and on Wednesday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to the church or American Cancer Society.
Wayne was born September 18, 1926 in Flint to the late Ray and Olive (Keirns) Townsend and lived in Clio most of his life. Wayne served in the US Army. He married Janet Rowley Boggs on May 26, 1978. Mr. Townsend owned and operated Town and Country Upholstering for 50 years. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and Vienna Greens Golf Course. He loved golfing, bowling and hunting.
Surviving are: wife Janet; 4 children, Sally Mogg of Coleman, Linda (Herbert) Brookins of Clio, Wayne Jr. "Chip" Townsend of Clio, Lisa (Eduard) Ajdini of Las Vegas, NV; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother Charles (Margaret) Townsend of Clio; nieces and nephews.
