Wayne Robert Stamey, 72, left his earthly home for his eternal home in Heaven on September 19, 2011. He was born in Spruce Pine, NC and moved to Virginia Beach, VA at the age of 16. He graduated from the old Virginia Beach High School, Class of 1957. He was predeceased by his father, Monroe R. Stamey; and his mother, Glennie Stamey; and one grandchild. Left to treasure Wayne's memory is his wife of 52 years, Kathleen; his children and in-love children, Terri Bobbitt (Jeff) and Robert Stamey (Barbara); and his cherished grandchildren, Heather Wyatt (Derek), Holly Stamey, Gregory Bobbitt, and Kenny Bobbitt; his sisters, June Nottingham (Bill), Linda Combs (Coet); and his brothers, Sherrill Stamey (Judy) and Britt Stamey (Donna); as well as many nieces, nephews and friends; and one very special friend, Ed Taylor. There was nothing more important to Wayne then the times he spent doing all sorts of fun things with his precious family. Wayne worked at Emhrae Ford which later became Beach Ford, and he was the Parts Manager for many years. He then left Beach Ford and became an independent salesman for Lawson Products, Inc., winning many awards for his outstanding salesmanship. He was still working for Lawson Products when he died. Wayne was a member of a very special group of golfers called the Redwing Seniors for many years and loved spending time around the table after the round of gold telling tales with his friends. Thanks for the memories guys! The graveside service will take place on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Princess Anne Memorial Park on Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. Wayne requested that there be no flowers and no memorial donations. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, is in charge.
