Wesley Keith Davis (Snipe), born April 6, 1948, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 9, 2011. Wes was a family man, survived by his loving wife, Amy Davis of Placitas; five children, James Davis and wife, Sonya of Albuquerque, Laura Davis of Boynton Beach, FL, John Davis and wife, Stephanie of Albuquerque, Gail Davis of Albuquerque, and Derek Lucero of West La Fayette, IN; sister, Twalla Davis Brown and husband, Dan of Collinsville, TX; and grandchildren, Spencer Davis, Joshua Davis, and Dulea Davis all of Albuquerque. He is also survived by numerous nieces; nephews; and cousins. Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Davis and Vi Barnes Davis Corliss; and brother, Jack L. Davis. Wes was a Navy veteran of the Viet Nam War (1965-1969). After serving, he came home to Albuquerque and as many Viet Nam vets worked his way into a suitable career with the Department of Energy as part of the Federal Protective Force. He held this position at Los Alamos Labs, DOE Albuquerque, and Sandia Labs., retiring in 2009 after 30+ years of dedicated service. While serving Wesley attained several levels of proficiency in marksmanship competition. He was an avid drag racer and proud supporter at Albuquerque National Dragway for many years; racing his Silver and Blue Delta Uniforms 1971 Chevelle. Wes was also a proud member of the New Mexico Veteran's Motorcycle Association, with the nickname Snipe. Riding with and supporting the organization in its mission. Wes was saved at a young age at Sandia Baptist Church and through the years attended church with his family at several local churches. Wes knew Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He took comfort in Christ's promise of eternal life through faith in the atoning power of his death, and resurrection. Today he would encourage any who have not shared that personal experience with their savior to look to Him for the answer to their tomorrows. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November, 11, 2011, at French - Lomas Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November, 12, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at The San Antonio Mission Catholic Church in Placitas, NM, with a reception immediately following. Burial and a brief ceremony will be at the Veteran's National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM on Tuesday, November, 15, 2011, with the procession leaving from French on Wyoming and San Antonio at 10:00 a.m. (ceremony to begin at 11:15 a.m.). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (www.curemeso.com), The New Mexico Veteran's Motorcycle Association (www.nmvma.us), and The Presbyterian Cancer Center (www.phs.org/phs/CancerCenter).
