Wilbert Henry Kleindl was born on May 20, 1913 to John and Margaret (Ehrnst) Kleindl in Browns Valley, MN.  Willie was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Browns Valley, MN.  Willie was raised in rural Barry, MN, where he attended Barry Rural School until the 8th Grade. 


After living in various locations, including California, Willie moved to Minneapolis to work at the Ford Motor Company.  While there, Willie met Helen Prettner, and on May 27, 1961, they were united in marriage at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in St. Paul.  To this union, they were blessed with three children: Gregory, Mike, and Judy. 


Willie continued to work at the Ford Motor Company for 28 years.  Willie was a member of Knights of Columbus and the United Auto Workers.  Willie had a green thumb, an excellent gardener.  Willie was a very humble man, he worked with his hands and was very proud of all of the work that he did. Willie enjoyed his family and loved spending time with them all. 


Willie and Helen lived in St. Paul Highland Park for 45 years, Helen died in February of 1996.  After Helen’s death, Willie continued to live in St. Paul until he moved into Grace Home in 2005.


Willie died on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at Grace Home in Graceville, MN, having lived to reach the age of 96 years. 


Willie is survived by his children, Gregory (Lisa) Kleindl of St. Paul, MN, Mike (Ann) Kleindl of Brainerd, MN, Judy (Dave) Sweitzer of Inver Grove Heights, MN; grandchildren Margaret, Sophia, and Emma Kleindl, Nicholas and Cathrine Kleindl; siblings Francis “Shorty” Kleindl of Graceville, MN, Lawrence Kleindl of Clinton, MN, Margaret (Kleindl) Billett of Graceville, MN, and Teresa “Tess” (Ronnie) Petersdorf of Farmington, MN; many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. 


Willie is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; parents: John and Margaret Kleindl; siblings: Clarence, Alvin, Rosie Wencel, John, Edward “Bing” and Joseph; one sister in infancy and one brother in infancy; two grandsons in infancy Patrick Joesf Kleindl and John Steven Kleindl
