Willa "Fannie" Ward, 74, died Tuesday afternoon (January 4, 2011) at Satilla Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was a native of Pierce County but had resided in Waycross for the past thirty five years. She was the daughter of the late Grady Anderson and Elise Cooper Anderson. She was the wife of the late Gerald T. Ward, Jr. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lena Anderson and a brother, John Henry Johnson. She was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she had been an active choir member, a former vice-president of Missions, a Deaconess, and former treasurer of the Choir and prayer meeting. She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Brenda Ward Sanders (husband David) of Augusta, Roslyn Ward Nixon (husband Gary) of Waycross, Michele Ward of Atlanta, and Natalie Ward Trotter (husband Ricky) of Jacksonville, FL; two sons, Gerald T. Ward, III (wife Irma) of El Paso, TX, and Kerry Ward of Waycross; twenty one grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren; a devoted daughter-in-law, Betty Ward of Waycross; devoted sister-in-laws, Effie Ward James (husband David) of Jacksonville, FL, Edith Tarber (husband the late Solomon), and Julia Ward Clinton both of Screven; a brother-in-law, Earl Ward (wife Alice) of West Palm Beach, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday (January 8, 2011) at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 864 Oak St., Waycross. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday at Music Funeral Home. Sympathy can be expressed by signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com.
