William A. Sheets, 78, passed away from AML on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at his home in Fort Wayne. Born in La Porte, he worked as a meat merchandiser for 40 years. He married Joan Sheets on Sept. 19, 1953 in South Bend. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, American Legion Post 47, was a veteran of Korean Conflict and volunteered at Lutheran Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Joan Sheets of Fort Wayne; children, Rebecca (Dan) Rusher of Zionsville, William R. (Lisa) Sheets of Auburn, Teresa (Chuck) Todd, Gregory (Joyce) Sheets, Elizabeth Little all of Fort Wayne, and Daniel (Anne) Sheets of Helena, AL; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, Donald (Carolyn) Sheets of Smithville, TN; and Marjorie Baldini of Naples, FL. William was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Margaret Sheets; and sister, Mary Jo Bickel. Mass of Christian Burial is 2 p.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 Fairfield Avenue with calling one hour prior, and Fr. Cyril Fernandez officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue with Vigil at 4 p.m. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
