William "Bill" Alfred Hersey

I apologize for taking so long to write this, but wanted to pass along my condolences to you and your family. Though, I did not know him personally, your father sounds like a wonderful and interesting person, much like the rest of the Hersey clan.

My condolences and prayers esp to Mick, whom I've communicated with a bit. May the memories continue to bring joy.

I didn't have many opportunities to meet Bill - who was my Dad's "double cousin" - Bill's father and my Dad's father were brothers and their mothers were sisters. However, I will always remember his beautiful musical tribute at his brother Alan's memorial service, and his joyful singing at my own father's memorial service.

Rest in peace in the arms of the Lord you loved so much, Cousin Bill.

I remember your family often coming into our cafe; your dad was always a kind and quiet person. He and your mom raised a good family. My prayers are with you and your family.

I shall always remember Bill as one of my very favorite cousins. When I was a child of 7 years old, he spent some time at our house helping us pack, as we were moving to Washington, D.C. He kept me laughing with his antics and his sense of humor. I had such a crush on him, and told him that I wanted to marry him! One of the many ways he amused me was with his artistic ability. He would ask me to put any kind of figure on a paper, and he would instantly make out of that abstract mark an animal, person, cartoon character, or anything else imaginative. He always had a smile, and was just a plain nice guy! He loved his Lord and served Him faithfully all the days of his life, and He is now in the presence of that Lord that he adored. What more blessing or promise is more precious?

Mr Hersey's family moved into a castle-like home a block away. I remember many kids, a lot of activity and a happy family that he led. Job well done Bill. May you rest in peace.

Where is my Dad?

About a little over a year ago, I was informed that my father had been placed in a Nursing home due to complications from Alzheimer’s.

This weekend I visited his old apartment complex and commented to the manager how over grown the area looked between his apartment and the road, she replied “ That’s because you Dad is not here”.

I went to his favorite restaurant with Arayda, Diana & Dennis and told David the manager about Dad’s passing

Where is my Dad?

About a little over a year ago, I was informed that my father had been placed in a Nursing home due to complications from Alzheimer’s.

This weekend I visited his old apartment complex and commented to the manager how over grown the area looked between his apartment and the road, she replied “ That’s because you Dad is not here”.

I went to his favorite restaurant with Arayda, Diana & Dennis and told David the manager about Dad’s passing and he said his afternoons were not the same because “Your Dad is not here.”

When I picked up his personal belonging at the nursing home on Monday, they were all saddened, because they said Daddy had made their mornings by his kind greetings of “Good Morning Beautiful”, but now my Dad was not there, as I presented them his photo and a plant.

When I was driving down on Saturday, I stopped to see Pastor Nick Miller, (Marilyn’s son), and had decided to stay over-night before going farther. I was awakened at 12:30 by my sister informing me that my Dad had passed away. “Now, My Dad is not here.”

We all know where our Dad is, He is celebrating Memorial Day with my mother, his mother and father and all his brothers and their wives as they welcome Daddy home.

As I drive this long journey back to Bremerton to get Fely and then drive across to South Dakota for his memorial service, I regret not being able to bring his remains with me, but as I stated earlier, “My Dad is not here, for he is already home.”

I love you and miss you PaPa, and will never forget the unfaltering love you had, not only for family & friends but to everyone.
