William Carl Smith Sr.
William Carl Smith Sr., 79, died Saturday, November 10, 2007, at his residence. He was a resident of Greenwood and formerly of Whiteland.
He was born November 16, 1927, in Indianapolis. His parents were Joseph M. and Ruth (Geisking) Smith. He married Dorothy Mitchell on November 16, 1945 in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2006. Survivors include three sons, Delbert M. (Linda), Dennis R. (Marilyn), William C. (Jennifer) Smith Jr.; a daughter, Susan (Harold) Hickman; five brothers, Joseph, Jerry, Richard, Jack, Thomas Smith; two sisters, Judy Lowrey, Martha Daugherely; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ron Smith; a brother, Robert Smith; and three sisters, Mary Meisenheimer, Betty Imhausen, Laverne Nibarger.

He was employed for 36 years by Kirk & Blum Co. as a Sheet Metal Worker, having retired in 1984.
He was a member of New Whiteland Christian Church and the Sheet Metal Workers Local #20, Past Commander of Father's Auxilary No. 79 New Whiteland, V.F.W. Whiteland Post # 6978, American Legion Greenwood Post #252, Greenwood Moose Lodge # 2079.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in W.W.II.
