William Dean “Bill” Dixon, 91, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born March 6, 1919 in Blackey, Kentucky to Dawson and Harriett (Whitaker) Dixon. Bill married Dorothy Childs on December 25, 1939 in Blackey, Kentucky and she survives. Bill served our country in the United States Navy in World War II as an electrician mate. Bill was a lifelong Baptist who loved gardening. He also enjoyed golf, getting his first hole in one at the age of 80. William was loved by all who met him, he truly will be missed. Along with his wife, Dorothy, Bill is survived by his daughters, Nancy Jones, Linda (Fred) Dixon-Hancz, Brenda (Harold) Berger and Sara Dixon; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and sister, Kate Hampton. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Jimmie Jones, two sisters and four brothers. Friends will be received Sunday, May 30, 2010 from 2-4 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). Visitation will continue Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 9-10 A.M. with funeral services beginning at 10 A.M. at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 Riverside Drive, Loveland, Ohio, 45140. Burial will follow in Maineville Cemetery, Hamilton Township, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
