WILLIAM DOUGLAS NEWTON, loving father and grandfather, died on February 22, 2012 at his home in Manassas, Virginia.

He was born on June 24, 1931 in Waterloo, Iowa to the late Artell and Mildred (Mishak) Newton.

William was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and a 4th degree Knight. He served his country in the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion. In his free time when he was younger he enjoyed fishing, and later in life was an avid golfer.

He is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Barbara Newton and his siblings: Jack, Bob, Carol Ann and Marlene.

Survivors include his loving children: Kimberly Bryant and husband Justin of Columbia, MD, Jeffrey Newton and wife Cynthia of Lone Tree, CO and Todd Newton and wife Jessica of Denver, CO; one sister: Mary Ann Meyers of Waterloo, IA; brother: Paul Newton and wife Glady of Las Vegas, NV and five grandchildren: Ashley, Tyler and Connor Bryant all of Columbia, MD and Natalie and Emily Newton both of Lone Tree, CO.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 27, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, VA at 10:00 AM with Rev. David L. Martin officiating. Burial will be at St. Rose Cemetery after a graveside service in Waucoma, Iowa.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of a contribution to: American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, Memorial and Tribute Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216 in loving memory of William Douglas Newton.
