William (Billy) Earl Jefferson, 80, of the 3000 block of Aaron Dr., Chesapeake, VA, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2010. Born in Martinsville, VA, Billy served in the U. S. Navy for 21 years before retiring. He was also a retired stationary engineer at Power Plant at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Winifred Catherine Newman Jefferson; a daughter, Teresa Jefferson Hart of Chesapeake, VA; a son, Michael Jefferson and wife Linda of Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and five sisters-in-law, Lizzie Jane Newman, Mozelle Dowling, Agean Carter, Goldie Southern and husband Pete, and Virginia Spence. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel with Rev. Gerald Stemm. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
