William (Bill) F. Harrison, age 83, of Rocky River, Ohio. Beloved husband of Alice Mae (nee Gridley) for 57 years and devoted father of Susan (Steven) Wylie of Clarkston, MI., Jean (John) FiIer of Hollis, NH. and Patricia Pinchbeck (companion Ron Forman) of Amherst, OH.; grandfather of Anne Filer, Caitlin Wylie, Sarah Pinchbeck, Stuart Wylie, Michelle Filer, Alex Pinchbeck, Rachael Filer, Adam Pinchbeck and Brian Pinchbeck. Bill passed away peacefully on January 1, 2012 at Lakewood Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Clovis, New Mexico, Bill played center on the Clovis High School football team. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Civil Engineering and served as a Captain in the Marine Corps in the Korean War. Bill had a long and distinguished career in engineering, working for US Gypsum Corporation, Stran-Steel Corporation, Armco Steel Corporation and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. He served as the President of the Ohio chapter of the National Society of Professional Engineers and was the General Chairman of the 95th annual meeting of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers. Bill was a long-time avid skier, a charter member of the National Ski Patrol at Boston Mills Ski Area, Ski Patrol Central Division Test Advisor and was one-time Director of the Northern Ohio Ski Patrol. He was a communicant at St. Christopher's Parish in Rocky River and a member of the Cleveland Yachting Club. He loved playing tennis, golf and bridge. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 7, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 20141 Detroit Rd. in Rocky River at 11:00am. (Meet at church).
