Mr. William George Foster, 89, of 55 Lebanon Ave., Pittsfield, a former longtime resident of 300 Zoar Rd., Rowe, MA, died on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Springside of Pittsfield.
He was born in Adams, on January 10, 1924, son of the late George and Helen (Campion) Foster. He attended schools in Adams, including the former Adams High School.
Mr. Foster was a Veteran of World War II having served with the United States Army until receiving his Honorable Discharge as Sergeant on January 15, 1946.
In his earlier years, Mr. Foster worked as a carpenter and then started his own business, the former Coffee Time Vending Co., Adams. He ran the business until he moved to Rowe and then became the Town of Rowe Building Inspector until retiring after 30 years.
He was a communicant of the Parish of Blessed John Paul, Adams. He was a member of the Building Inspectors of Western Massachusetts.
His wife, the former Bernice Bailot, whom he married on February 4, 1947, died on June 16, 2012.
He is survived by,
2 Sons – David Foster and his wife Karen of Monroe, CT and John Foster of Putney, VT;
2 Daughters – Susan Foster and her husband Guy Crosby and Diane Chapin, all of Adams;
7 Grandchildren – Jodi Reeves and her partner Timothy Cota, Joshua Nye and his wife Arlynn, Lauren Tenenhaus and her husband Brian, Jessica Foster and her partner Christy Cuddy, Scott Chapin and Sydney and Michael Foster;
4 Great Grandchildren – Kenidee and Kathryn Reeves and Colby Chapin and Lilly Wilson;
1 Great Great Grandson - Cedric Meczywor and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
