Gastonia William Fred Rudder, Sr., 86, of Gastonia, died October 8, 2009, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was a native of York County, SC, son of the late Charles Fred and Irene Alderman Rudder and brother of the late Bobby Rudder and Charles Rudder, Jr. Mr. Rudder was the owner operator of a newspaper equipment manufacturing company. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a Pearl Harbor survivor. Mr. Rudder is survived by his wife: Ruth Stancil Rudder, children: Rev. William Fred Rudder, Jr., Marty McClure, Gregg and Lynne Cannavo, Tony and Pam Hedrick, Tim and Joanna McClure. Grandchildren: Mary Rudder and Jeremy McQuaig, William Fred Rudder, III, Jennifer Leigh Rudder, Garen and Spring McClure, Josh McClure, Jeremy McClure, Cassidy Cannavo, Chris Cannavo, Amanda Metcalf, great grandchildren: Kora and Kelden McQuaig, Gus McClure, brother: Jim Rudder and wife Elba, sister: Margaret Kimbrel. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. William Fred Rudder, Jr. officiating. Military Honors by the WW II Last Man Club of Gaston County. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
