William J. (Bill) Smilie, age 87, of Fort Collins passed away on April 21, 2010. He was born June 19, 1922 in Merino, CO. His parents were the late W.J. Smilie and Florence Faye Sluyter Smilie. He graduated from Fort Collins High school before serving in the US Army at Camp Adair, OR. On June 7, 1944, he married Myrtle A. Reasoner in Fort Collins. He worked at Auto Parts and also at Major Motor Supply in Fort Collins before becoming manager of Poudre Valley and Norlarco Federal Credit Unions. He was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Smilie was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years. He is survived by a son, William J. Smilie of Yerington, NV; two daughters, Jeanette Weeks of Lander, WY, and Elaene Nace of Washington, New Jersey; a sister, Florence Thoen of Virginia; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins.
