Mr. William L. Ruane Jr., of Belmont, died Thursday, November 5, 2009 in Massachusetts General Hospital after being stricken earlier in the week. He was 56.
William ‘Billy’ was born on April 21, 1953 in Cambridge a son of the late William L. and Dorothy R. (Jones) Ruane and lived all of his life in Belmont. He was a graduate of Belmont High School class of 1971. He graduated from Boston College class of 1975 where he played on its baseball team.
Billy worked for the United States District Court System at the John J. Moakley Courthouse in Boston for almost 34 years. Presently, he had been working as the Chief Deputy Clerk for over 20 years.
His passions were his family and sports. Billy was most happy on the sidelines of various athletic fields watching his children play sports either at Belmont High School or Bowdoin College.
He leaves his wife of 27 years, Kathleen A. (Connolly) Ruane; his children, Allison C., Matthew W. and Kristen P. Ruane, all of Belmont; his siblings, Robert W. Ruane & his wife, Kathleen, of E. Glastonbury, CT and Janet R. Trayers and her husband, John, of Wellesley; his brothers-in-law of Joseph Connolly of London and Kevin P. Connolly and his wife, Sharon, of Woburn; his sister-in-law Judith C. Dineen & her husband, James, of Duxbury; also survived by 11 nieces & nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Nov. 9th in The Church of Saint Joseph, 124 Common Street, Belmont at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at The Stanton Funeral Home, 786 Mt. Auburn St., (Rt. 16) WATERTOWN on Sunday from 3–8PM. Interment Highland Meadow Cemetery, Belmont.
