Mr. William "Ed" Lawrence, 91, of La Porte, Indiana, died Monday March 21, 2011 at his home. He was born February 16, 1920 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Alger Lawrence and Hazel (Clifford) Lawrence. Ed was a retired Foreman for New York Blower. He was a member of Salvation Army of La Porte and attended the Door Village United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during W.W. II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a past member of the P.N.A. Club. and he loved to fish and was a die hard Cubs fan. On July 5, 1941 in Sedalia, MO he married Marguerite Ellis Lawrence who preceded in death on April 4, 1983. He remarried on November 21, 1995, in La Porte, IN. to Janice Bowen Lawrence who survives. He is also survived by his daughter - Debbie Spencer of La Porte; son - Bill Lawrence of Homosassa, FL; 2 Step Sons - Deryl (Anna) Veach of La Porte, Eric (Catherine) Veach of La Porte; 8 Grandchildren - Jenelle (John) Murphy, Lisa (Jason) Mackowiak, Mike Spencer, Zack Faiyaz, Alexis Veach, Nathan Veach, Justin Veach, Max Unger; 3 great grandchildren - Kyle Kenyon, Kaley Kenyon, Luke Mackowiak; and several nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday March 23, 2011 at 7:00 PM with Pastor Billy Nickrand and Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. Followed by a military service by the American Legion/V. F. W. Honorguard.
