William Paul Polci, age 70, died Sunday evening April 11, 2010 after a brief illness. Born August 6, 1939, he was the son of the late Francis Polci of Waterbury and the late Ann (Dermody) Polci Ruderman of Waterbury and Southington. He leaves his wife of forty-four years, Mary Waters Polci of Granby and his three children: Elisa Anne Polci and her partner Patrick Corey Gilkes of Granby; Keith Andrew Polci and his wife Carrie of Hampden, MA; Maura Catherine Polci Provencher and her husband Theodore of Granby. Bill was very proud of his seven grandchildren: Derek Antonucci and Keira Hollister; Priscilla and Savannah Polci; Isabelle, Emelia and Caroline Provencher. He leaves three brothers - Robert Ruderman and his wife Gail of Fort Myers, FL, Richard Ruderman and Roger Ruderman of Southington. Several aunts and uncles including a favorite aunt, Matilda (Polci) Lerz predeceased him. He also leaves his brother-in-law Robert Waters and his wife Rose of Weeki Wachee, FL; his sister-in-law Jean (Waters) Cianci and her husband Sebastian of Old Saybrook; many nieces, nephews and friends. His brother-in-law David Waters of Denver, CO, predeceased him. Bill graduated from the University of Connecticut and received his Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He retired from a long corporate and consulting career in Information Technology and recently resumed writing fiction after a long hiatus. Having lost his father at a very early age, Bill valued the years he spent with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He especially enjoyed holidays and family gatherings, summers and every body of water from oceans to the smallest brook. Always the photographer, Bill has left us a treasure of family pictures to remember the many good times we shared. We will miss him. “Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild With a faery, hand in hand, For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.” William Butler Yeats. Rest in peace, Bill.
