Mr. William R. Shade, Sr, 86, of Gratz. passed away Friday, June 4th, 2010 peacefully at The Manor at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg, PA. William was born in Shamokin, Pa. on February 24, 1924, the son of the late Palmer and Florence (Klock) Shade.He was the husband of Dora Shade.

He was a member of Simeon United Lutheran Church Gratz, He served in the U.S. Navy in WW II. He was employed as a Machinist at TRW Harrisburg, PA. He was a member of the Gratz Fire Co, Erdman Sportsman Asso., and Gratz VFW Post 2385.

William is survived by his wife, Dora Shade of Gratz, PA two sons William Shade, Jr of Gratz, PA; and Lynn Shade of Gratz, PA. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. William was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Fern Erdman; Eva Wetzel; Edna Messner, and by 1 brother, Lamar Shade.

Viewing will be on Thursday, June 10th, 9-11AM at Simeon United Lutheran Church, Grtaz, PA. Religious Service will be at Simeon United Lutheran Church at 11 AM on Thursday, June 10th, with Rev. Barry Ridge officiating. Interment at Gratz Union Cemetery, Gratz, PA.
