William Stanley Brown, 88 Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for William Stanley Brown, 88 of New Springfield, Ohio who died Saturday afternoon at the Salem Community Hospital. William was born August 31, 1922 in Ensley, Alabama, a son of the late Joseph S. and Bertha Hartwig Brown. He lived in Leetonia, Ohio from 1928-1938 and attended Leetonia High School. He graduated in 1940 from high school in Dundalk, Maryland. William was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Battle of the Bulge . After the war, William returned to Baltimore, where he lived until 1981. William had worked for Bethlehem Steel as a machinist from 1946-1981 when he retired and moved to Cape Coral, Florida. He had lived in Florida until he returned to this area in 2004. William was a member of the VFW Post#2799 of New Springfield, the American Legion Post #737 of Lake Milton, the Army Navy Garrison #172 of Newton falls, the Amvets Post #112 of Newton Falls, the 80th Division Association and the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, Chapter #34. He was a former member of the Eagles and the Moose Club of Cape Coral, Florida. His wife Frances, whom he married in 2000, died in 2003. He leaves a granddaughter, Tabitha Woods of Forest Hills, Maryland; a great-grandson, Mason Woods, a sister, Rosalie Hughes of Salem; nephews, Robert Hughes of Lake Milton, Jerry Hughes of North Lima; nieces, Sandra McDevitt of Indian Wells, California and Phyliss Sinclair of Mobile, Alabama. Besides his parents and his wife, William was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Culpepper, a sister, Marjorie Davis and a brother, Julius Brown. Calling hours will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the funeral service.
