On Tuesday, December 6th, 2011, William Thomas Mann, 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and is now rejoicing with many family members and friends who made the trip before him.
Although Tom never married, he enjoyed a life full of love and purpose. He was always quick to help family and friends, even when it meant doing without himself. He was caretaker to his parents, a sister and a brother when they could no longer care for themselves. He shared his heart with many friends and family including nieces and nephews who thought of him more as a grandfather than an uncle.
Tom was a charter member of Barnett Memorial Baptist Church and a member of the Ruth Class. He worked for Fones Brothers Hardware for 44 years and was a member of the Teamster's Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Mann and Nellie Wise Mann; his sister Mary Mann Yarberry; three brothers Robert Mann, Howard Mann and J.D. Mann as well as two nephews Kenneth and Jim Ed Mann.
Tom is survived by two brothers Frank Mann of Shannon Hills and Carl (Kay) Mann of Walker, Louisiana; two sisters Joyce Satterwhite of Mabelvale and Carolyn (Ken) Herbert of Little Rock and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Henry and his nurse, Torrie and to the wonderful hospice staff for their acts of kindness in caring for Tom. We also send an extra special thank you to Betty Cummins for the love and sweetness shown to Tom as she cared for him.
Funeral services will be at Barnett Memorial Baptist Church in Little Rock on Saturday, December 10th, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, December 9th at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills, 10200 Hwy 5 North, Alexander, AR (501)455-1067.
Memorials may be made to the music department at Barnett Memorial Baptist Church or to Arkansas Hospice.
